Welcome to Temple Beth Hillel

Temple Beth Hillel is a Reform congregation seeking to foster a sense of Judaism fully in touch with the modern world, yet maintaining a sensitivity to tradition. We welcome anyone interested in participating in Temple Beth Hillel.

Our High Holy Day services are an important part of our liturgical year. Honors are given to both young and old, creating a truly special feeling of community. We celebrate two days of Rosh Hashana, followed by Yom Kippur. The holiday cycle continues with services for Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, Purim, Passover and Shavuot. The Temple Seder, held on the second night of Passover, brings us together as a family.

Confirmation, the reaffirmation of a young person's religious identity after three years of study beyond Bar/Bat Mitzvah, is a major part of our Shavuot service. The confirmation class develops and leads the entire service to which the Temple community is invited.

A service of Bar or Bat Mitzvah is particularly special. The young person leads the service, reads from the Torah, and reads a Haftarah portion as well. The family is involved both in the planning of the service and in the actual service itself. The warmth, meaningfulness, and personal nature of the service is a source of pride to our Temple family.
