Just last month I was eagerly anticipating attending the URJ Biennial with Rabbi, Cantor and an enthusiastic group of our Temple Beth Hillel congregants. Now I can happily report that we’ve traveled to Toronto and back. There is not enough space here to tell you about all the sights, sounds and experiences of being with over 3,000 fellow Reform Jews from across the United States and Canada. We were very proud to have a hearty group of 11 people attending and it is our hope that we will expand that participation in the future.
During our first Shabbat upon arriving home, we were able to share some of Our Biennial impressions with the congregation. We will continue to talk about the Services, workshops and meetings we attended in Toronto at our Friday evening worship during the next few weeks. We hope that in doing this, you will catch our enthusiasm and learn about how our Temple benefits from all the resources of the URJ. Please come and you will learn more.
Temple Beth Hillel continues to be a busy and active place. On Sunday, November 15th the Liebman Family hosted a social hour and dinner to honor our Armed Forces Families. It was very well attended and especially appreciated as we celebrated Veterans Day that week. Look for a write up about this wonderful event in the “Reminder”. Thank you to the entire Liebman Family and all the volunteers who helped make this dinner such a success.
On Sunday, November 22 our La’atid Elective program will be holding educational and inter-congregational activities. There will be something for everyone! Come and enjoy!
In response to those of you who have been asking about what is happening with plans for the celebration of Temple Beth Hillel’s 50th Anniversary, I am proud to announce that we have launched our Steering Committee. The congregants of our 50th Anniversary Steering Committee are Marty Seefer, Charles Field, Ann Marie Hughes, Becky McCann and Ana Pearl. Let the Steering Committee know your thoughts and ideas for celebrating. Contact them and join them in making our 50th a celebration we will remember for years to come.
Chag Sameach – A Very Happy Chanukah to all
