Annual Congregational Meeting

Sunday, May 21 at 7:00 PM

Temple Beth Hillel’s Annual Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 21st at 7:00 PM at Temple Beth Hillel. In addition to the normal business, we will take this opportunity to recognize the many volunteers who have made this last year such a success. Light refreshments will be served.

At this meeting, the first order of business will be to elect the proposed slate of officers (please see the link below for a list of nominees).

The second order of business at the annual meeting will be approval of the proposed 2006-07 fiscal year budget. A summary of the budget is below for your information. As you will note, the budget for next fiscal year projects a deficit of almost $7,000. There are many factors behind this, but the two most significant items are (1) a decline in Religious School enrollment due to the graduation of a very large 7th grade class and (2) an overstatement of dues-paying membership that was incorporated into the 2005-06 budget. While it has been the Board’s consistent practice to budget conservatively, after careful consideration of the congregation’s best interests, the Board felt it could neither cut expenses lower nor raise dues higher for the proposed 2006-07 budget. At the same time, we currently estimate that the 2005-06 year will result in a surplus because of donations and fundraising revenues that were not budgeted for. As a result, the Board proposes, on a one time basis, to use existing surplus funds in the general account to fund the projected 2006-07 deficit.

The third order of business at the annual meeting will be approval of proposed changes to the by-laws. A summary of changes is below. A copy of the current by-laws and a marked up copy of the proposed by-laws are linked below. You may also obtain an electronic copy by e-mailing me.

If you are unable to attend the annual meeting, you may vote by signing and dating the proxy linked below. Each adult member of a family is entitled to vote in person, or by proxy. In the case where multiple votes are received from the same family, each vote will count for a fraction of one vote. You may return the proxy to the Temple Office, or give it to any Board member.

If you have any questions regarding the attached material, please feel free to give me a call (644-1256) or send me an e-mail at tbhpresident@cox.net tbhpresident@cox.net  in advance of the meeting.

B’Shalom,

Jeff Weinman, President
